| Every morning the
High Coast-boat departures from Mjällomslandet to Ulvön. Many
people are going there over the day but there are also a possibility to
stay over the night on the island. Here is a fine holiday village, youth
hostel, hotel and even some separate fishingshead for rent. A pub, a shop,
a restaurant and a café with it´s fine old tradition, "Måsen".
At most here was 340 persons living in the beginning of 1900. If you are going up the stairs to Lotsberget you will see a view to Skagsudde in the north and to Högbonden in the south. Ulvön have a most worth seeing, very fine decorated chapel from 1622. Some people do think the chapel will be as old as from the 1300:s. On the south and on the north of Ulvön there is two deserteded fishingvillages. In the south, Marviksgrunnan, in the north - Sandviken, with a very fine sandy beach and fishingshead for rent. Sandviken have now become a culture reserve. Both places is well worth to a visit. The close situated island, Mjältön, is the highest island of Sweden (you see, the name - high coast). Ulvön is well attended, especially on the midsummer with many vary kinds of boats. Later in the summer here is a smell, yes, you see... it´s FERMENTED BALTIC HERRING. |
